If you buy a home have a plan for renting out a room or two (AirBnb). 

This will help you pay of the home sooner and cover some homeownership expenses. (Roof, water heater, heating/AC unit, etc.)

The one thing I would have done differently is to buy a home with 2 bathrooms. Renting out a room when there is only one bathroom in the house is challenging. This would have been easier with 2 bathrooms.
